Privacy policy. How this site and my emails handle your data.

1. Who is responsible

Claire Thornewill
The Pivot Table Club
Frau-Holle-Straße 19
81739 München, Deutschland
E-Mail: claire@pivottable.club

If you have any questions about your data, just email me.

2. Hosting and server logs

This website and my email list are run on MailerLite, provided by MailerLite Limited, 88 Harcourt Street, Dublin 2, D02 DK18, Ireland. MailerLite processes data on my behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). According to MailerLite, its data is stored in the European Union.

When you visit the site, the server automatically records technical information your browser sends: your IP address, the date and time, the page you visited, the referring page, and your browser and operating system. This is needed to deliver the site securely and to fix errors. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (my legitimate interest in running a secure, working website).

3. Cookies and local storage

This site only uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for it to work:

  • MailerLite session and form cookies: keep the session running and remember whether a sign-up form has been submitted.
  • Your cookie choice: a small entry in your browser's local storage remembers that you clicked "OK" on the cookie pop-up, so it doesn't keep appearing.

I don't use advertising or analytics cookies on this site. Legal basis: § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. You can delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

4. Fonts and icons

The fonts on this site are loaded from MailerLite's own servers, not from Google. MailerLite's page template also loads the Font Awesome icon library from Fonticons, Inc. (USA). To do that, your browser connects to their servers, which means your IP address is transmitted and this may involve a transfer to the USA. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (a consistent, working page design).

5. Signing up: the Warm-Up and the masterclass waitlist

When you sign up for the free Warm-Up or the Take Your Seat waitlist, I collect your first name and email address. MailerLite also records the time of sign-up and confirmation and your IP address, so I can prove you signed up.

What I use it for: sending you the Warm-Up workbook and the welcome emails that go with it, or, if you joined the waitlist, news about the masterclass, including dates and a little homework beforehand. Plus the occasional honest note from The Pivot Table Club.

Double opt-in: after you sign up, you get an email asking you to confirm. You're only added once you click that link.

Email statistics: my emails contain a small tracking pixel and tracked links. They tell me whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, so I can see what's useful. This is part of what you agree to when you sign up.

Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email, or by emailing me. Withdrawing doesn't affect anything that happened before.

How long I keep it: until you unsubscribe. After that, your email address may be kept on a blocklist, only so you don't get emails from me again (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Your data is processed by MailerLite (see section 2). MailerLite may use sub-processors, including its US company MailerLite, Inc., which is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

6. Emailing me

If you email me, I use your email address and what you write only to reply. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. I delete it when it's no longer needed, unless I have to keep it by law.

7. Links to other sites

This site links to Substack and Instagram. No data is sent to them unless you click a link. Once you're on their site, their own privacy policy applies.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • access the data I hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • have it corrected (Art. 16) or deleted (Art. 17)
  • restrict how it's processed (Art. 18)
  • receive it in a portable format (Art. 20)
  • object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21)
  • withdraw your consent at any time (Art. 7(3))

Just email claire@pivottable.club.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. For Bavaria, that's the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, www.lda.bayern.de.

9. Anything else

You don't have to give me any data. Without an email address, though, I can't send you the Warm-Up or waitlist news. I don't use automated decision-making or profiling.
